Gustavo Herrera
“Mexican Operatic & Crossover Tenor”
Born in Mexico City, Gustavo Herrera immigrated to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, in 2007.
Possessing a natural tenor voice and a lifelong passion for music, he began his operatic studies at the age of sixteen in Mexico City. In 1981, he performed his first major concert appearance with the UNAM Philharmonic Orchestra at the renowned Nezahualcóyotl Concert Hall, one of Latin America’s premier concert venues, performing the tenor solo role in Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy in C Minor, Op. 80.
Throughout his artistic career, Gustavo Herrera has performed in Germany, France, Spain, Canada, and Mexico, appearing in concerts, cultural presentations, community events, and private engagements.
His repertoire encompasses a wide variety of musical styles, including opera, sacred music, classical Mexican music, Neapolitan songs, international pop standards, Italian repertoire, choral music, Latin popular music, and traditional mariachi performances. He performs in English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Latin, and Mandarin.
Since 2012, Gustavo Herrera has focused primarily on crossover and popular repertoire as a Canadian-Latino Pop Tenor in Vancouver, British Columbia, presenting performances that combine classical vocal technique with Latin popular music traditions.
In addition to his artistic work, Gustavo Herrera has proudly participated in fundraising and community support events in collaboration with organizations such as the Chinatown Vancouver Rotary Club, SUCCESS Foundation, and various Mexican and Latino community organizations in British Columbia.
Currently, Gustavo Herrera performs at private, diplomatic, corporate, official, and community events throughout British Columbia and Mexico City.
